Alicante Property

Alicante property - Area Information

Inland, around towns like Orihuela, it's a similar story. Flats start at £45,000 and detached properties at £85,000. New build properties are particularly prolific in Alicante South, with numerous new urbanizations springing up from Gran Alacant south to Torrevieja.

At the northern end of Alicante Province stretching towards Benidorm, the wonderful coastal road passes thorough Spanish villages and towns accustomed to a more relaxing pace of life. North of Alicante, you enter a different world. It's the posh Alicante, where quality apartments start at £120,000 and villas at £260,000. Buyers are affluent Spaniards and northern Europeans.

The Southern Costa Blanca is often the most popular choice. This is largely due to the relatively low price of land and property compared to other parts of Southern Spain. This part of the Costa also offers the most choice in terms of property available and (in the hot spots) is home to a very successful private renters market.

A wide selection of property is available 10 minutes drive from Alicante, and through to Cartagena without much interruption. Towns to look out for here are Santa Pola (the Gran Alacant residential area here is one of the closest to the airport), Guardamar, Torrevieja and San Pedro. Another advantage to buying in the South is a second international airport (Murcia - San Javier) situated on the Costa Calida, approximately 1 hour south of Alicante.

Being sandwiched in between these airports makes the Southern Costa Blanca possibly the most accessible destination in Southern Spain.

Alicante property - Viewing Trips

Situated in the middle of the Costa Blanca the city of Alicante is well placed for travel throughout Spain. It is connected to the A-7 motorway that will take you to the French border, and the N-340 runs as far along the coast in either direction as any are likely to want to travel (Murcia - Barcelona and beyond). It also features excellent bus, train and flight connections via Alicante's International Airport "El-Altet".

Flights to Alicante are very affordable, mainly in the winter; you can take a weekend viewing trip and check the properties available within your chosen area. Contact a real state agent. Bear in mind also that in your budget you should allow for Taxes, Legal and Notary fees, which can amount to quite a significant figure maybe as much as 8% of the purchase price, depending upon the sale value the property is declared as being worth in the title deeds or Notarised public document known as the escritura.
